Cisco Global Virtualization Conference first edition was held in Rome, on 15th June and in Milan on 17th June: a twin opportunity to learn everything that is to be aware of in terms of Virtualization, through the testimonial experience of the Industry most technological companies. At both venues Cisco offered TSF an exhibit area, a meeting point where participants in the conference had the chance to get a more detailed insight on TSF ICT outsourcing services offer, specifically addressing “Infrastructure As a Service” services through its Hyperced (the new, highly-technological, virtualized Data Centre TSF has developed and implemented with Cisco support). At Milan event, Fabio Vaiani (TSF ICT Outsourcing Manager) held a round-table speech on Cloud Computing, moderated by Antonio Romano (IDC VP), where Silvano Gai Silvano Gai (Fellow – Cisco), Giuseppe Gorla (Senior Executive ATC – Accenture), Roberto Sortino (Director Unified Storage Group Italy & East Europe – EMC), Dario Bucci (CEO – Intel), Alberto Bullani (CEO – Wmware), Michele Tomasin, (Amministratore Delegato – Panduit), Agostino Santoni (CEO – SAP) and Alfonso Mariconda(VP Strategy - Telecom Italia) participated.During his speech, Fabio Vaiani raised few issues for further thinking, by high-lighting how the “As a Service” Market is moving pretty slowly, despite the obvious benefits unified computing system offers as far as IT enterprise organization scalability, energy efficiency, and support."There is an additional set of benefits _ highlighted Vaiani _ since Customers can instantly execute new businesses start-ups, through a ready-to-use infrastructure, dynamically increase (or reduce) the infrastructure in use, by constantly aligning business and service supply, in order to competitively take advantage of the business opportunities the Market offers, exploit the given opportunity to “pay per use” services (furthermore: only when services are used, and according to how much they are used). At last, but not least, to be considered the fact that Customers will always have the opportunity to use a ‘state-of-the-art’ infrastructure, managed by IT-specialist professionals. |

On Thursday 25th February a very exciting event took place at TSF Data Centre location – Scalo Prenestino, in Rome, Italy: TSF presented its HyperCED project, born to turn infrastructure from a cost to a business driver which, on a Customer-side means a flexible and adjustable infrastructure solution to spot-needs on a pay-per-use concept basis. Nowadays Enterprise departments spend over 60% of both their time and budget resources purchasing servers – just to later see their flashing led lights on. Through As-A-Service mode IT services Enterprises will be able to concentrate and focus on their core business, since IT is seen on a commodity-like perspective basis, that is: IT accessible and accessed as a service. Positive impacts on the project from an energy- and industrial resource-basis saving are to be highlighted: precious material use is required – even if initial investment, as far as reviewing applications not designed for virtualization purposes may equal achieved cost saving. Real saving is to be evaluated on a time-basis. More than 60 participants were present at TSF HyperCED event to confirm the project strong interest for up-to-date issues.
